The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was the largest party with 52 seats, followed by the undivided Shiv Sena with 38 seats.
The Congress secured 10 seats, the BJP obtained six, while Independents won five seats.
Statewide implications
The results from the NMMC are being monitored closely amidst the backdrop of recent local body elections across Maharashtra. In earlier rounds, the BJP emerged as the single-largest party in 129 out of 288 local bodies, while the ruling Mahayuti alliance collectively surpassed the 200-seat mark.

Conversely, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) had a more subdued performance, with Congress winning 35 local bodies, and both Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) each securing eight.
Projected timeline for final NMMC results
As counting proceeds, the focus will remain on whether the early leads persist as all wards are accounted for. Any shifts in the margins between the Shiv Sena (Shinde) and the BJP could influence the final results.
Officials stated that updates will be provided at regular intervals throughout the day. A clearer understanding is anticipated once counting progresses beyond the initial phase and the remaining wards are addressed.
