Her appointment follows the mutual departure of former manager Marc Skinner, who concluded a five-year tenure just weeks ahead of the new season.
The 40-year-old Olid comes to the role after leaving Scottish club Heart of Midlothian in May, where she spent nearly five years at the helm.
During her time at Hearts, she led the team through its most successful phase, achieving promotion from the second tier and securing the club’s first Scottish Women’s Premier League title last season.
Olid’s accomplishments earned her both the SWPL Manager of the Season award and the PFA Scotland SWPL Manager of the Year accolade.
“Becoming the head coach of Manchester United Women is truly a dream come true,” Olid stated in a club announcement.
“Our squad already possesses a wealth of talent, and I am eager to collaborate with the players to help them realize their full potential.
“I am joining Manchester United at an incredibly thrilling juncture. We share a unified vision for achieving sustained success.” United, who placed fourth in the Women’s Super League last season, confirmed that Olid has signed a three-year contract with an option for an additional year.

“Her outstanding work at Heart of Midlothian demonstrated her ability to enhance individual player potential while also introducing a dynamic style of play.”
Olid’s first competitive match in charge will be an away game against London City Lionesses in the Women’s Super League season opener on September 4.
