LSG Brings in Linde to Replace Injured Hasaranga - What Was the Cost of the South African Player?
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have signed South African all-rounder George Linde to replace Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, who has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 due to an injury.

Hasaranga was picked up by LSG for ₹2 crore in the mini auction, but a hamstring injury has kept him out of action since the beginning of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Linde, a left-handed batsman, is skilled with both bat and ball.
He has represented South Africa in three Tests, four ODIs, and 37 T20 Internationals, amassing 403 runs and taking 35 wickets in the T20I format.

The 33-year-old has participated in over 250 T20 matches across various leagues and domestic competitions, enhancing LSG’s all-rounder capabilities.

This will mark Linde’s debut in the IPL, joining the franchise at his base price of 1 crore.

LSG started their season on a disappointing note, losing to the Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets. However, they have bounced back impressively, securing victories against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Currently, their spin bowling lineup is led by Digvesh Rathi, but Linde is expected to be a valuable addition, deepening the overall squad’s strength.
