Kerala Elections 2026: Initial Two Hours See 16% Voter Participation
Keralam has reported a turnout of 33.30% by 11 am during the important state Assembly elections. Voting is ongoing across all 140 Assembly constituencies in the state. The polls commenced at 7 am on Thursday (April 9) at the 30,495 polling stations spread throughout the state.

As per EC data, Thripunithura has recorded the highest polling percentage at 20.59% till 9 am.

Robust security measures have been implemented, featuring the deployment of over 76,000 security personnel and real-time monitoring of the election process via an extensive webcasting system.

Approximately 2.71 crore voters are tasked with determining the fate of the 883 candidates contesting from the 140 Assembly constituencies within the state.

According to the Election Commission, the electorate consists of 1.32 crore men, 1.39 crore women, and 273 transgender individuals, in addition to over 2.42 lakh overseas voters.

The electorate will also decide if the LDF secures a third consecutive term or if the UDF or NDA can offer feasible alternatives. Results will be announced on May 4.
