On Thursday, May 14, Tilak Varma’s remarkable performance led the Mumbai Indians to a six-wicket victory, leaving Punjab needing to secure wins against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants in their final two matches to remain in the playoff race.
“We simply haven’t managed the pressure during our recent defeats,” Haddin stated during a press conference on Thursday, May 14.
“We haven’t performed at our best when it matters most, which is disappointing. We share the same disappointment you all feel regarding our initial tournament performance compared to our current situation.

“The key takeaway is that we must find a way to turn this around. It’s clear we need to play better.”
Questions about consistency and player fitness have surfaced amid Punjab’s downturn, but Haddin emphasized the need for players to concentrate on winning and to disregard external distractions.
“It’s essential to manage everything on the outside and ensure you’re in the right mindset when stepping onto the field, and that’s precisely what we need to achieve,” he added.
“Now, we can’t entertain ‘what if’ scenarios. We must rediscover the strengths we’ve shown before.”
Punjab’s next challenge is against Bengaluru on Sunday.
