Gulveer became the first Indian to earn a medal in the men’s 10,000m race at the Commonwealth Games. The Army athlete finished second with a time of 27:49.78, maintaining a position among the leaders throughout the race and making a strong surge in the final lap.
Harjinder Kaur also secured a silver medal in the women’s 69kg weightlifting event, lifting a total of 227kg, which included 101kg in the snatch and 126kg in the clean and jerk. She notably broke the Commonwealth Games snatch record twice during her competition.
Additionally, India claimed bronze medals in para powerlifting, weightlifting, and among para athletes, with Jhandu Kumar, Bindyaani Devi, and Shilpa K Shyla each contributing to the country’s success.

Alongside Kaur and Singh, other silver medalists include India’s Rishikanta Singh, Muthupandi Raja, Gyaneshwari Yadav, Valluri Ajaya, and Babu in weightlifting, as well as Sarvesh Kushare in athletics.
So far, India has secured two gold medals in this edition of the CWG, with Sharmila Dhankar in para athletics and Mirabai Chanu in weightlifting.
Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain has ensured a medal at Glasgow 2026 after receiving a quarter-final bye in the women’s 75kg category; both losing semi-finalists in boxing will earn bronze medals. Lovlina, however, aims to convert this opportunity into gold.
On Day 7, the Indian contingent looks forward to Sanjana in the women’s 77 kg weightlifting, Murali Sreeshankar and Lokesh Satyanathan in the Men’s long jump final, Manpreet Kaun in the Women’s shot put final, Aryan Nehra in the men’s 1500m freestyle swimming final, and Parul Chaudhary in the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase Final.
These athletes will be competing for medals on July 29.
