India voices worries regarding the crisis in Venezuela, urging a peaceful solution.

On Sunday, January 4, the Ministry of External Affairs expressed deep concern regarding the recent developments in Venezuela, stating that India is closely observing the situation as it unfolds.

The ministry reiterated India’s commitment to the welfare and safety of the Venezuelan people and urged all involved parties to seek a peaceful resolution through dialogue, emphasizing the importance of maintaining regional peace and stability.

According to the MEA, the Indian Embassy in Caracas is actively communicating with the Indian community members and will continue to provide all possible support.

Additionally, on the night of January 3, India advised its citizens to refrain from all non-essential travel to Venezuela due to the situation following the U.S. capture of the oil-rich nation’s president. The ministry also urged Indians currently in Venezuela to exercise heightened caution and limit their movements.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was apprehended during a significant U.S. operation in the capital, Caracas. This U.S. action has led to political turmoil in the South American nation, with several major powers, including Russia and China, condemning Washington for the operation and the detention of Maduro and his wife.

The MEA has advised Indian nationals in Venezuela to reach out to the Indian Embassy in Caracas for assistance at +58-412-9584288, which is also available for WhatsApp communications, or via email. Official estimates suggest that around 50 Non-Resident Indians and approximately 30 Persons of Indian Origin are currently living in Venezuela.
