India surpasses 1 billion image creations using ChatGPT Images 2.0, says Sam Altman.
The creation of images using ChatGPT in India has surpassed the 1 billion milestone, as announced by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on Monday.

This achievement for ChatGPT Images 2.0 comes less than a month after its launch in India.

”ChatGPT Images 2.0 India. More than 1 billion images created already; it’s fantastic to witness,” Altman shared on social media platform X.
ChatGPT 2.0 was made available in India on April 21.

According to data provided by OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, users employ prompts like Cinematic Portrait Collage, Mini Me World, Underwater Portrait, Anime, Chibi Sticker Pack, Manga Comic Strip, Enhance, and Fashion Studio Portrait, among others, to create images.

”This trend shows that AI image generation in India is increasingly merging with creator culture, fashion, fandoms, and digital identity instead of being restricted to traditional productivity scenarios. If the first month is any indication, ChatGPT Images 2.0 is providing millions in India with a fresh visual language for the internet,” OpenAI stated.

The initial version of ChatGPT Images was introduced in December 2025.
