The upcoming edition of India Energy Week (IEW) will take place from January 28 to 31, 2027, at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town, Kolkata, as announced on the event’s LinkedIn page.
This decision represents a change for the annual conference, previously hosted at the newly constructed 4,000-seat convention centre located within ONGC’s Advanced Training Institute (ATI) in the idyllic south Goa.
The Goa venue was established as a long-term home for this flagship energy event, built rapidly by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).
Kolkata’s selection follows the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) securing victory in the West Bengal assembly elections, marking its first governance in the state.

In a subsequent post, Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri mentioned that he reviewed preparations for IEW 2027 with relevant officials.
IEW has evolved into the largest energy gathering globally, with Puri stating, “2027 will be bigger: global CEOs, policymakers, investors, and innovators converging on India.”
“From clean energy transition to energy self-reliance, India isn’t just participating in the global energy dialogue. We’re setting its agenda,” he remarked.
ONGC, in a separate message, declared: “Kolkata, the energy is coming. India’s biggest energy conversations are heading east as #IndiaEnergyWeek 2027 arrives in the City of Joy!” The former West Bengal chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, inaugurated the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town, Kolkata on October 13, 2017.
This 18-storey facility, designed to accommodate major international summits, business meetings, and cultural events, boasts a vast 3,200-seater auditorium along with advanced convention infrastructure, which includes an exhibition centre, multiple seminar rooms, banquet areas, multi-level parking, and an adjacent 100-key hotel block.
In February 2024, a temporary conference centre on the unused portion of ONGC’s IPSHEM training facility in south Goa served as the venue for a second edition of IEW due to a lack of available convention centres elsewhere in the country. This sparked the idea for a permanent facility, adding another chapter to Goa’s tourism narrative.
Puri initially discussed this project, and shortly thereafter, ONGC began approving one of its largest non-core infrastructure initiatives in recent years. Approvals were expedited, and the centre was constructed swiftly.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced during his Independence Day speech on August 15, 2024, that the coastal state would indeed serve as the permanent venue for the annual IEW.
The 2025 edition of IEW was hosted in Delhi, with the 2026 edition taking place at the new facility in Goa. Although the convention and exhibition centre at the ATI campus was envisioned as a space for significant conferences and events, no major occurrences have transpired there since IEW 2026.
The oval-shaped Convention Center accommodates approximately 4,000 attendees simultaneously and includes a VVIP room, a VVIP green room, two VIP rooms, two VIP lounges, a CEO meeting room, five CEO translator rooms, bilateral rooms, office spaces, three lounges, a dining hall, dry pantries, elevators/escalators, and a large foyer.
The Management Development Facility (MDF), which spans 8,353 sq meters, encompasses office space, a dining hall, conference rooms, an auditorium seating 182, a VIP lounge, office rooms, breakout spaces, eight syndicate rooms, and 11 classrooms. The exhibition hall, occupying 6,669 sq meters, is tailored for large trade fairs and expos.
The campus also features a floating jetty and a helipad with four parking areas, facilitating access by sea, air, and road. The jetty connects the venue to prominent hotels and resorts along the 15-km coastline in South Goa.
