India dismisses China's effort to rename locations in Arunachal Pradesh.
On Wednesday (May 14), India criticized China for its efforts to rename places within Indian territory, stating, “we reject such attempts categorically.” The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized that Arunachal Pradesh is, has always been, and will continue to be an integral and inalienable part of India.

“We have observed that China has continued its futile and absurd attempts to rename places in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. In line with our steadfast position, we categorically reject such endeavors. Creative naming will not change the undeniable fact that Arunachal Pradesh is, has been, and always will be an integral and inalienable part of India,” the MEA conveyed in an official statement.

Furthermore, the X account of the Chinese publication Global Times was restricted in India after the MEA strongly condemned Beijing’s ‘futile and absurd’ efforts to rename locations in Arunachal Pradesh.

The People’s Republic of China has persistently released maps that rename several locations in Arunachal Pradesh.

In 2024, China published a list assigning 30 additional names to locations in the region.
