Iran issues warning about sea mine dangers in Strait of Hormuz, directs vessels to take different routes, and temporarily reopens the crucial oil corridor under a two-week ceasefire

Iran US Israel War News Live Updates: On Thursday (April 9), Iran revealed alternative passages for vessels navigating the Strait of Hormuz, pointing out the hazards presented by sea mines in the primary area of this vital waterway.

Tehran has consented to a temporary reopening of the strait, which typically handles one-fifth of the global oil supply, as part of a two-week ceasefire agreement.

“All vessels planning to navigate the Strait of Hormuz are hereby informed that to adhere to maritime safety principles and to protect against potential collisions with sea mines…they should utilize alternative routes for transit in the Strait of Hormuz,” Iran’s Revolutionary Guards stated in a release cited by local media.

The announcement included guidelines for a new entry and exit route through the strait.
