ICICI Lombard to Disburse ₹77.67 Crore to Claimant Following Arbitration Ruling, Considering Legal Alternatives
ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd announced on Tuesday (July 14) that it has received an arbitration ruling mandating the company to pay ₹776.73 million (₹77.67 crore) to an insured party, along with interest at a rate of 7.5% per annum from the date the Statement of Claim was filed until payment is made.

The arbitration decision was issued by an Arbitral Tribunal concerning a conflict with Roadway Solutions Narayanpur Roads Project Private Ltd, the insured entity.

“In this context, please be informed that the company has obtained an Arbitration Award from the Arbitral Tribunal via its legal counsel on July 13, 2026, at 9:13 p.m. The Arbitration Award validated the claim made by the Insured against the company regarding the dispute between the involved parties,” as stated in a filing to the stock exchange.

The dispute pertains to six insurance policies purchased by the insured from Bharti AXA General Insurance Company Limited, which was acquired by ICICI Lombard in September 2021. The insured initiated arbitration proceedings in September 2021, contesting the amount of the claim settled by the previous insurer.

The total claim amount under contention was approximately ₹892.54 million (₹89.25 crore). ICICI Lombard mentioned that it is assessing available legal options and will take appropriate actions accordingly.

The company indicated that there is currently no significant financial impact on its operations. It also reported that no discrepancies, non-compliances, penalties, restrictions, or sanctions were noted in the communication.

Shares of ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd closed at ₹1,761.30, a decrease of ₹26.45, or 1.48%, on the BSE.
