Hearing on Kunal Kamra's breach of privilege case to commence shortly in Maharashtra
The proceedings concerning the breach of privilege against stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, related to his parody song aimed at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, are set to commence shortly, a senior official announced on Saturday.

In response to this development, Kamra shared a news article about the breach of privilege proceedings on X, stating, “The real breach of trust is letting people die in public transport every day.” This remark seemed to reference a local train accident in Mumbai earlier this week that resulted in four fatalities.

BJP legislator Pravin Darekar had filed the notice against the comedian and Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Sushma Andhare in the state legislative council during the budget session in March.
Legislature secretary Jitendra Bhole confirmed, “Legislative council chairperson Ram Shinde has sent the notice to the privilege committee, which is led by BJP MLC Prasad Lad.” Upon being contacted, Lad informed PTI that his committee convened to review the breach of privilege notice and has begun the process of issuing notices to Kamra and Andhare.

In March, Kamra, known for his unabashed stand-up comedy targeting politicians and celebrities, faced backlash from Shinde’s supporters due to a song directed at the Shiv Sena president.
