FIR Filed Against MP Minister Vijay Shah for Disparaging Comments About Col Sofiya Qureshi
An FIR was filed against Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah in Indore district on Wednesday (May 14) night for allegedly making controversial remarks concerning Colonel Sofiya Qureshi.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on X that action would be taken against Minister Shah following directives from the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

A police officer confirmed that an FIR has been registered at the Manpur police station. Superintendent of Police (rural) Hitika Vasal verified this information.
The FIR was filed under sections 152 (acts jeopardizing the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India), 196 (1) (B) (acts adversely affecting mutual harmony among communities, causing or likely to cause a breach of public peace), and 197 (1) (C) (remarks about a community member adversely affecting community harmony).

Shah made the contentious statement during a public gathering in a rural area of Indore district on Monday without directly naming Qureshi.

Colonel Qureshi had provided details regarding Operation Sindoor, launched by the Indian Armed Forces, during press conferences with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh.

Following the uproar over his remarks, Shah expressed his willingness to apologize multiple times if anyone was offended. He further stated that he held Colonel Qureshi in higher regard than his own sister.
