According to sources referenced by CNBC-TV18, Apple’s iPhone production is boosting the electronics component industry in India.
As part of the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), the government has sanctioned 46 projects with a cumulative investment of ₹54,567 crore.
Over half of the sanctioned investment is targeted at fulfilling the demands of iPhone production, the sources indicated.
Firms such as Tata Electronics, Motherson, Foxconn, and Hindalco are making investments to integrate into Apple’s iPhone supply network.
Suppliers of iPhone components are looking to establish manufacturing units for lithium-ion cells, displays, mobile phone casings, and electromechanical parts, the sources noted.
