Ex-PM Imran Khan Expected to be Released on June 11, According to Party Associate
Imran Khan, the incarcerated former Prime Minister of Pakistan, is anticipated to receive bail on June 11 related to the Al-Qadir Trust case, according to a senior party leader.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) is scheduled to hear the petitions that seek to suspend the sentences imposed on Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, on June 11 in the Al-Qadir Trust case, which involves £190 million.

Khan, who is 72 years old, has been detained at Adiala Jail since August 2023 facing multiple charges.
Gohar Ali Khan, the chief of Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, expressed optimism that the party leader will secure bail on that day, marking June 11 as a significant date for both Khan and his wife, though he did not elaborate further.

The IHC had previously delayed the hearing in the Al-Qadir Trust case until June 11 after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) requested more time to prepare its case, as reported by ARY News.

Gohar mentioned to ARY News on Saturday that the PTI plans to join forces with opposition parties to initiate a movement led by the party’s patron-in-chief from within the prison walls.

He called on opposition parties to unite with the PTI for the nation’s survival and security, while also announcing that a strategy for the upcoming budget has been finalized. “The party will hold a press conference on June 9 regarding this,” he added.

Last month, Khan asserted that he would spearhead his party’s forthcoming protest against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led coalition government from prison.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister and notable leader of Khan’s PTI, Ali Amin Gandapur, indicated earlier this week that a significant movement for the cricketer-turned-politician’s release would commence post-Eid Al-Adha.

Khan, who is involved in several legal cases and has been convicted in some, has consistently labeled the February 8 general elections of last year as the ‘Mother of All Rigging.’ He refers to his rivals, the PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), as “mandate thieves.” Rana Sanaullah, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs, encouraged the PTI to consider Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s invitation for negotiations to amend electoral laws during discussions with the government.

Gohar claimed that Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, is being held without charges as a means of pressuring the PTI founder and affirmed that no deals would be made for his release.

He also dismissed any rumors of internal discord within the PTI.

Years ago, the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA) reached a £190 million settlement with Malik Riaz, a property tycoon.

An earlier report in Dawn indicated that the NCA had imposed freezing orders on eight bank accounts containing £100 million in August 2019, suspected to be linked to bribery and corruption overseas. The NCA confirmed it had notified the then-government, led by Khan’s PTI. Allegations suggest that Khan directed Shehzad Akbar, his accountability aide, to resolve the issue, who subsequently “settled” the concern, adjusting the frozen funds against Bahria Town’s obligations, according to Dawn.

Bahria Town Ltd, Riaz’s real estate company, was determined to have unlawfully acquired vast tracts of land in Karachi’s Malir district and had contributed hundreds of acres to the Al-Qadir Trust, a nonprofit organization with only two trustees—Khan and Bushra Bibi.
