Eknath Shinde: Shiv Sena-BJP will form a strong partnership for municipal elections.
Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Friday that the partnership between his party, Shiv Sena, and the BJP for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, along with other civic bodies in the state, will be formalized in a “respectable” manner.

While speaking to the media, he mentioned that discussions regarding the alliance between the two parties are nearly complete for the civic elections in Thane, Kalyan Dombivli, Mira Bhayandar, and Navi Mumbai.

“There will be a dignified alliance in Mumbai. Chief Minister (Devendra Fadnavis) is monitoring the progress of seat-sharing discussions. He has instructed that an alliance should be established for the local body elections,” Shinde stated.
“Alliance will be formed in a dignified manner. We will approach the elections as Mahayuti and will emerge victorious,” he asserted.

He emphasized that the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance is founded on the principles of Shiv Sena’s founder Bal Thackeray and prominent BJP leaders Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani.

The coalition between the BJP and Shiv Sena is a selfless one. It is not motivated by the desire for power. While some forge alliances for personal gain, this partnership has been established for the welfare of the people and for development, he claimed.

During the Vijay Nirdhar Rally in Dombivli, Thane district, he declared that the framework of the Mahayuti alliance has been agreed upon and discussions are nearing completion.

“Talks with CM Fadnavis and state BJP president Ravindra Chavan are reaching their final stages,” he noted.

Additionally, at another event in Thane city, where several local leaders aligned with the Shiv Sena, Shinde referred to the Sena-BJP collaboration as an “alliance of ideas,” committed to advancing Bal Thackeray’s ideology.

Elections for 29 civic bodies in the state are scheduled for January 15, with vote counting to follow the next day.
