Blue Dart Express Unit Receives Relief as ₹420.14 Crore GST Claim is Withdrawn

Blue Dart Aviation Ltd (BDAL), a fully owned subsidiary of Blue Dart Express, has secured a significant relief in a goods and services tax (GST) case, as tax authorities significantly reduced a substantial demand levied against the company.

In a regulatory announcement, the company stated that the Commissioner of GST & Central Excise issued an adjudication order on December 30, 2025, related to a show-cause-cum-demand notice for the period from April 2021 to March 2023. The notice had suggested a total GST demand of ₹420.79 crore, excluding interest and penalties. The company received the order via email on December 31, 2025.

Following comprehensive presentations by BDAL, the adjudicating authority dismissed the majority of the proposed demand. Out of the total amount raised, demands amounting to ₹420.14 crore, primarily concerning the determination of the place of supply and the availment of input tax credit, were removed.

Nevertheless, the authority upheld a smaller demand of ₹64.98 lakh regarding input tax credit on materials that were written off in the company’s financial records.

An additional interest of ₹41.72 lakh and a penalty of ₹6.49 lakh were also imposed. BDAL stated that it has voluntarily accepted and settled the confirmed tax and interest amounts to conclude the matter and prevent extended litigation.

The order also officially resolved the show-cause notice issued by the Chennai South Commissionerate. The company indicated that it does not anticipate the outcome of the adjudication to materially affect its financial status, operations, or other business activities.

Shares of Blue Dart Express closed marginally lower on Wednesday, December 31, decreasing by 0.23% to ₹5,530 on the NSE.
