BJP MP Nishikant Dubey apologized unreservedly on Wednesday (April 1) for his assertion that former Odisha chief minister Biju Patnaik served as a connection between Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the CIA during the 1960s China war.
He faced backlash within the BJP and from external critics for his statement.
In a post on X, the BJP politician stated, “Last week, during a media interaction, my comments regarding the Nehru-Gandhi family’s actions were misinterpreted, particularly concerning the esteemed Shri Biju Patnaik ji, a former Chief Minister and one of India’s prominent leaders.”
Emphasizing that it was his personal opinion, Dubey remarked, “My views on Nehru ji were wrongly linked to Biju Babu. Biju Babu has always been, and will continue to be, an exceptional statesman for us. If my comments have offended anyone, I sincerely apologize.”
He also extended his greetings to the people of Odisha on Utkal Dibasa.
