BJP set to reveal five state leaders by April 20 and the national leader by the end of the month.
The Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to reveal the names of state presidents for five states by this weekend (April 20). Following this announcement, the election process for the BJP national president will commence, and the party may have a new national leader by the end of the month.

According to News18, significant meetings have taken place this week involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, and senior party figures Amit Shah and JP Nadda, indicating that important organisational decisions are imminent.

Key states such as Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, West Bengal, and others still need to appoint their respective state presidents.
To date, 14 state presidents have been designated, but as per the party’s constitution, elections must be conducted in at least 50% of states before the national presidential elections.

The election for the national president was initially planned for January but remains unresolved. It is thought that the party is taking its time to select a leader in advance of critical state elections this year and early next year.

JP, the current national president, has been in office since January 2020. His term has been extended beyond the usual three-year limit to facilitate a smooth transition.

The party constitution states that the term of the national president is typically three years and is elected through consensus within the party.
