The deadline for submitting applications is January 12, 2026, as stated by Infrastructure Development Minister M B Patil on Saturday.
The minister’s office announced that sites have been identified at Choodahalli and Somanahalli on Kanakapura Road, in addition to another location near Nelamangala, for the proposed airport.

A high-level team from the Airports Authority of India has reviewed these sites and provided a preliminary report, according to Patil.
“The consultancy firm chosen through the tender process must submit a comprehensive technical and financial feasibility report to the Government within five months,” he noted.
The minister indicated that firms with a track record of executing projects worth at least Rs 250 crore annually over the past five years and those who have overseen or prepared consultancy reports for a minimum of five projects in the pertinent sector will be qualified to participate in the tender.
“The selected consultancy firm will analyze factors such as rainfall patterns, topography, power availability, water supply, sewer systems, waste management infrastructure, surrounding populations, regional development, and potential noise pollution from airport operations at all three proposed sites,” he detailed.

Patil emphasized that the feasibility report must also outline the estimated costs for developing the proposed airport, the land required, and necessary approvals from various authorities, including the Ministry of Defence and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The report will evaluate the impact of a new airport on local industries, tourism, and public mobility, he added.
Patil explained that the consultancy firm will also investigate existing connectivity to the proposed sites and the infrastructure that would need to be developed following the airport’s construction. Additionally, the economic viability of cargo handling and passenger services will be analyzed.
Based on a thorough assessment of all three locations, the firm will provide recommendations on the most suitable site for the second airport.

Patil mentioned that Kempegowda International Airport currently ranks second in the country by passenger density. The state needs another airport; therefore, proactive steps have been initiated in advance.
Once the feasibility report is completed, the Government will determine the next steps to take.
