Arshdeep is looking forward to his first Test appearance after being named in the Indian squad, with the team preparing for a four-day intra-squad match at the Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham from June 13-16.
Known primarily for his white-ball skills until now, Arshdeep played a crucial role for Punjab Kings (PBKS), who finished as runners-up in IPL 2025.
“Today’s training session was all about finding my rhythm — understanding how my body feels and how the red ball is coming off my hand — since everyone has been using the white ball for a while. I genuinely enjoyed it,” he shared with BCCI.TV.
“As we progress step by step, the intensity will ramp up, and we’ll continually challenge the batters more and more.”
The Men in Blue are without Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma on this lengthy tour, as both have retired from the longest format. Shubman Gill has stepped up as the new leader, and the batting line-up may feature new faces like Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, and Karun Nair, among others.
Arshdeep expressed his enjoyment in bowling to his teammates, noting that the practice has helped him enhance his red-ball skills as well.
“It was enjoyable to bowl to the batters. They seemed really solid, and there was a competitive vibe—even while we focused on rhythm, they were fully engaged. That made it all the more enjoyable,” he commented.
“We had to really grind and come up with solid plans to get them out. Sai is new to the team and looked very capable. The skipper also seemed in great form. I’ll strive to keep improving and aim to dismiss them more in the future.”
