“Honestly, I don’t have much to elaborate on right now. We need to revisit our strategies and identify our shortcomings. Is it individual performances? Is it the team’s coordination? Is it a planning issue? We’ll have to analyze it and decide our next course of action,” Pandya stated.
Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for a duck against Punjab, while Jasprit Bumrah has gone wicketless in their first five matches.
“No, we need to evaluate whether we should make some tough decisions or continue hoping for a turnaround. These are challenging questions that we must confront, and it’s essential that we take ownership,” he mentioned.
Suryakumar has managed to score fifty in one match, but his other scores include 16, 6, 33, and 0, while Tilak Varma has produced a series of modest scores at 20, 0, 14, 1, and 8.
The skilled Jasprit Bumrah is still awaiting his first wicket in five outings and has conceded runs at an average of 8.63 per over.
Nonetheless, Pandya acknowledged the opposition for outmaneuvering them in all aspects of the game.
“We need to commend them as well. The ball began to reverse. In the second innings, the dew made conditions slightly better, but they simply outperformed us. They bowled better, batted better, and fielded better, and that speaks volumes,” he said.
MI are set to visit Ahmedabad to face the Gujarat Titans on April 20, followed by a home match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 23.
So far, MI has recorded just one win in five matches, but they have a reputation for making remarkable comebacks in the latter stages of IPL seasons. Last season, their position on the points table mirrored a similar situation after the same number of games, yet they rallied to reach Qualifier 2.
