
Kimberly beats Appleton United in boys lacrosse showdown

SOFTBALL
Kaukauna 2, Kimberly 0
KIMBERLY – The Ghosts moved to 17-0 overall and 13-0 in the Fox Valley Association with the victory over the Papermakers.
Kaukauna scored single runs in the first and second innings, and Karly Meredith was dominant in the circle, pitching six innings and allowing two hits and two walks while striking out 11.
Summer Schmidt had two hits for the Ghosts.
Isabella Ellestad took the loss despite a solid effort. In six innings, she allowed five hits, two runs – one earned – with one walk and two strikeouts.
The loss drops the Papermakers to 10-4 in the conference and 12-5 overall.
Fox Valley Lutheran 1, Freedom 0
FREEDOM – The Foxes scored the game’s only run in the third inning on Claire Pfrang’s run-scoring double to beat the Irish.
Winning pitcher Madison Babcock pitched the first five innings for Fox Valley Lutheran, giving up just one hit while striking out five.
Kailey Stordeur took the loss for Freedom. She allowed one run on six hits while striking out three.
The Foxes finished off a perfect season in the North Eastern Conference with an 18-0 record to win the league title and are 22-0 overall.
Waupun 10, Winneconne 3
WAUPUN – The Wolves had four hits in the loss to the Warriors, who hit five home runs.
Claire Schaffer had a triple for Winneconne.
Julia Youngbauer took the loss for Winneconne, allowing 10 runs on 11 hits and three walks.
Shiocton 13-19, Menominee Nation 2-2
SHIOCTON – After trailing 2-0 after one-half inning, the Chiefs scored two in the first, nine in the second and two in the fourth for the Central Wisconsin Conference-East Game 1 win.
In Game 2, Shiocton scored five in the first, four in the second and 10 in the third. Menominee Nation scored its two runs in the third.
Abbie Presteen earned the win in the opener, pitching five innings, allowing two hits, two unearned runs and no walks while striking out nine.
Morgan Oskey drove in two runs, while Cally Presteen scored three runs for Shiocton.
Brenna Beilfuss earned the win in the nightcap. Leading the Chiefs in Game 2 were Oskey, who was 4-for-4 with three RBIs; Cally Presteen, who was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and four runs scored; Abbie Presteen, who was 2-for-4 with three RBIs; and Maylea Krake, who was 2-for-2 with five RBIs.
BASEBALL
Hortonville 4, Appleton East 3
HORTONVILLE – The Polar Bears scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally for the win over the Patriots.
Appleton East took a 3-0 lead with three runs in the top of the third inning. Hortonville scored a run in the bottom of the third.
Isaac Behnke had a triple and drove in three runs for the Polar Bears. Kameron Chronis had two hits.
Cade Prestigiacomo had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs for Appleton East.
Griffin Jens pitched four innings in relief to get the win. He allowed two hits, no runs and struck out four.
Appleton North 11, Oshkosh North 1
OSHKOSH – Cash Christianson pitched five innings and allowed one earned run to lead the Lightning to the win over the Spartans.
Levi Watts had three hits, including a double and a triple. He scored two runs and drove in two runs. Teegan Karpinske added two hits, including a double, drove in three runs and scored two runs.
Thomas Carew also had two hits and three RBIs, and Jack Kangas had a triple and scored three runs.
Shiocton 11, Manawa 1
MANAWA – The Chiefs scored one run in the first, three in the third, one in the fourth, one in the fifth and five in the sixth en route to the Central Wisconsin Conference-East win.
Jackson Young led the Shiocton offense, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Cody Young, Hunter Heinemeyer and Sawyer Young all had two hits and two RBIs. Braylon Kroll had two hits and an RBI, and Reid Flannery had two hits.
Flannery also picked up the win on the mound, pitching six innings and allowing three hits and one earned run with one walk and eight strikeouts.
Brice Fahser had an RBI and stolen base to lead the Wolves.
Shiocton moves to 8-9 overall and 5-7 in the conference, while Manawa falls to 2-11 and 1-10.
GIRLS SOCCER
Appleton North 9, Appleton East 1
APPLETON – Brinley Dunsirn scored two goals and had an assist for the Lightning in the win over the Patriots.
Addison Schneider, Maya Zulewski, Aubrey Scherer, Alivia Greer, Dylan Kenny, Ava Wickesburg and Brooke Schuh also scored for North.
Natalie Roe led the way with three assists. Schuh had two assists.
Ava Koleske and Kenny shared time in goal for North. Kenny made one save.
Verona 2, Kimberly 1
VERONA – The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead with goals in the 55th and 70th minutes in their win over the Papermakers.
Kimberly scored its goal in the 78th minute with Vada Sousek finding the back of the net. Brenna Wilson got an assist on the goal.
Bee Brockert had seven saves in goal for Kimberly.
