AMMK Claims Vijay's TVK is Utilizing Counterfeit MLA Endorsement Letter
A political turn took place in Tamil Nadu when Amma Makkal Munnettra Kazagam (AMMK) leader TTV Dhinakaran withdrew his earlier support for actor-politician Vijay and instead endorsed the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) amid the ongoing efforts to form a government.

Reports indicate that Vijay, who is seeking written backing from at least 118 MLAs to fulfill Governor RV Arlekar’s requirements for establishing the government, had submitted letters of support from 116 legislators after his meeting with the Governor.

However, shortly after this meeting, Dhinakaran declared his support for the AIADMK, which has yet to make an independent claim to form a government.

Questioning the validity of the purported support letter, Dhinakaran labeled it either as “forgery” or “horse-trading.” The AMMK subsequently filed a complaint with the Guindy police, alleging that Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam used a forged support document to claim rights for government formation.

Police officials confirmed receipt of Dhinakaran’s petition but stated that no FIR has been registered as of Saturday morning. This complaint followed Dhinakaran’s late-night visit to the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Guindy.

Speaking to the press, Dhinakaran accused TVK of submitting a photocopied and fabricated letter to the Governor, falsely claiming support from AMMK’s sole MLA-elect from Mannargudi, S Kamaraj.

He alleged that the party was trying to evade anti-defection laws through the use of forged documents and claimed the MLA himself was taken aback upon seeing the alleged letter.

Earlier on Friday, Dhinakaran had officially pledged support to AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami.

Meanwhile, TVK dismissed the allegations as “false news” and released a video that allegedly shows MLA Kamaraj willingly signing the support letter.

The police are expected to initiate a preliminary inquiry to determine whether an FIR will be filed.
