Air India Plane Makes Misguided Turn at Ahmedabad Airport, Encounters IndiGo Aircraft Head-On
An Air India aircraft made a wrong turn on the taxiway at Ahmedabad airport, crossing paths with an IndiGo plane on Wednesday evening, according to sources.

IndiGo reported that both planes stopped at a safe distance from each other.

The IndiGo flight, bound for Mumbai, was ready for takeoff when the Air India aircraft diverted incorrectly, with a separation of about 200 meters between the two on the taxiway, sources indicated.
“We acknowledge an incident involving our flight AI 2493 operating from Mumbai to Ahmedabad on June 24, which inadvertently took a wrong turn during taxi,” Air India stated.

The airline emphasized that there was no compromise on passenger and crew safety, noting that the aircraft was later towed back to the parking area.

“The incident has been reported to regulatory authorities, and an investigation has commenced,” the airline added.

Both aircraft involved were narrow-body A320s.

IndiGo mentioned that its flight 6E 5160, set to fly from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, experienced a brief delay while taxiing out for departure due to another airline’s aircraft taking an incorrect route and obstructing its path.

“Both aircraft came to a halt at a safe distance from each other. The other aircraft was then towed away, allowing our flight to depart and land safely at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai,” IndiGo stated.

IndiGo also reported that the relevant authorities were informed immediately.

Information regarding the number of passengers aboard both aircraft was not available.
