The official announcement was made on Friday by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who stated that Palaniswami would lead the NDA coalition in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections at the state level, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi overseeing the national leadership.
“At this crucial juncture, guided by the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, AIADMK will collaborate closely with NDA partners to fulfill the aspirations of the people and contribute to his transformative vision,” Palaniswami stated in a post on X, previously known as Twitter.
The AIADMK general secretary also made a subtle remark aimed at the ruling DMK and its leader, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji for his steadfast support to @AIADMKOfficial.

“Together, we are dedicated to constructing a greater Tamil Nadu—one that is free from dynastic politics, corruption, and misgovernance,” he further remarked.
The AIADMK had cut ties with the BJP in September 2023, following ongoing criticism of its senior leaders by K. Annamalai, who was then the BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit chief.
This reunion comes shortly after the BJP appointed Nainar Nagendran as Annamalai’s successor, leading to speculation that Annamalai’s departure was planned to facilitate a renewed alliance.
However, Amit Shah refuted such claims. While addressing the press alongside both Palaniswami and Annamalai, he stated: “This is not true at all. Annamalai is still the state president today, which is why he is sitting with me.”
