To obtain a metro ticket through Rapido, users should launch the app and navigate to the metro ticketing section. First-time users booking tickets via the Rapido app will benefit from a complimentary Rapido ride.
Rapido has also rolled out fixed-rate rides to and from specific metro stations in Delhi, available for ₹25. The company has established designated pick-up and drop-off locations at these stations to enhance last-mile connectivity.
Here’s how to purchase a metro ticket on Rapido:
– Launch the Rapido app on your smartphone.
– Navigate to the metro ticketing section on the home screen.
– Choose your departure and destination stations from the options provided.
– Confirm your travel details and move on to payment.
– Complete the payment using UPI to finalize the booking.
– Receive a QR-based metro ticket in the app, which can be scanned at metro gates.
According to Rapido Co-Founder Aravind Sanka, over 800,000 individuals use the app daily, with around 100,000 already commuting to or from metro stations. He noted that 40% of Rapido’s users are women.
This new feature follows an earlier initiative by Uber in Delhi, which became the first city to enable metro ticketing through ONDC in its app. Uber users can acquire QR-based tickets and access real-time metro updates using UPI. The service is anticipated to expand to three additional Indian cities in 2025.
The ONDC partnership was officially established in 2024 during Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi’s visit to India. ONDC Acting CEO Vibhor Jain stated that such collaborations will contribute to creating a more inclusive and digitally enabled mobility ecosystem in the country.
