India and UAE Enhance Discussions on Streamlining Visa Regulations and Expediting Extradition Procedures
India and the United Arab Emirates advanced their visa policies for travel between the nations on Wednesday.

This topic was a key focus during the meeting of the India-UAE Joint Committee on Consular Affairs (JCCA) held in Abu Dhabi.

Significant advancements were also made in improving information exchange, consular access, expediting extradition cases, and enhancing mutual legal assistance, as reported by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
The discussions resulted in progress in four important areas, including the liberalization of visa policies.
The other focal points included: information exchange and consular access, collaboration on mutual legal assistance, and matters related to extradition.

“The meeting occurred in a spirit of traditional warmth and cooperation that defines the historic and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UAE,” stated the MEA.

India expressed gratitude for the support provided by the UAE leadership and authorities to the welfare of the substantial Indian community residing in the UAE, which acts as a “vital bridge” in enhancing bilateral relations.

“Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety, dignity, and well-being of their citizens living in each other’s territories,” it added.

Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UAE in August 2015, bilateral relations have been elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

There has been a notable increase in bilateral trade and interpersonal connections following the signing of a comprehensive economic partnership agreement between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi in 2022.
