Honeywell is redefining its operations and intensifying its commitment to automation, data analytics, and physical AI as fundamental elements of its long-term growth strategy, stated Chairman and CEO Vimal Kapur during an interview with CNBC-TV18 at the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos.
“In February 2025, we chose to split into three distinct companies. Each will concentrate on unique opportunities,” Kapur noted, emphasizing a more precise strategic direction across the organization’s segments.
Nonetheless, automation will remain a cornerstone of Honeywell’s vision.
“Automation is an ongoing growth trend — it lies at the heart of our operations,” he remarked, adding that the company anticipates substantial benefits from improved data utilization.
“We must tap into the potential of data,” Kapur asserted.
Looking ahead, Kapur stated that artificial intelligence will be a crucial catalyst for productivity. “When I consider the next 20–30 years, Honeywell stands to gain immensely from AI and enhanced productivity.”
Kapur recognized the hurdles in implementing physical AI, especially concerning data accessibility. “The challenge with physical AI is that data isn’t readily available in the public domain. While executing physical AI is difficult, the outcomes are remarkable,” he explained.
Addressing global trade and supply chain issues, Kapur mentioned that tariffs have minimally affected the company due to its localized manufacturing strategy. “Tariffs haven’t significantly impacted us as we produce locally across various regions,” he stated, adding that many companies are increasingly adopting regional supply-chain strategies.
Honeywell is also exercising caution in capital allocation this year. “We are prudent regarding M&A expenditures this year as it’s essential to maintain our rating,” Kapur indicated.
Regarding AI deployment, the company aims to enhance human productivity instead of replacing workers.
“Our focus is on augmentation as a company; AI is set to play a significant role in that aspect,” he concluded.
