US Legislator Proposes Bill for Greenland to Become the 51st State: Key Points of the Legislation
A Republican representative has put forward a bill in the US House of Representatives aimed at making Greenland the 51st state of the United States.

Florida Congressman Rep. Randy Fine has proposed the legislation to empower US President Donald Trump to take necessary actions to acquire Greenland, a territory of Denmark, and eventually integrate it into the United States.

Entitled the “Greenland

Annexation and Statehood Act,” the bill asserts, “The President is authorized to take such actions as may be necessary, including seeking to enter negotiations with the Kingdom of Denmark, to annex or otherwise acquire Greenland as a territory of the United States.”
Fine contends that Greenland plays a crucial role in US security due to its Arctic location, which enables control over vital shipping routes for trade, military movements, and energy transport.

“America cannot leave that future in the control of regimes that oppose our values and aim to undermine our security,” he remarked.

The bill also stipulates that if Greenland is successfully acquired, the President must submit a report to Congress detailing the changes required in US federal laws for Greenland to achieve statehood.

Fine expresses concern that the US must not permit nations that contradict American values or security interests to gain influence over Greenland.

Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have emphasized the growing significance of the Arctic in global power dynamics, expressing concerns that countries like China and Russia are attempting to enhance their influence in the region through increased military presence, shipbuilding, research operations, and resource investment.

“My bill will safeguard our homeland, secure our economic future, and ensure that America—not China or Russia—establishes the rules in the Arctic. That exemplifies American leadership and strength,” Fine stated.

Trump has long shown interest in acquiring Greenland, even hinting at the use of force during a recent White House meeting, declaring, “We are going to do something about Greenland, whether they like it or not.”

As reported by Reuters, Trump officials are also considering offering between $10,000 and $100,000 to each Greenland resident to encourage support for US initiatives.
