VVMC Commissioner and Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Suryavanshi convened a meeting on Wednesday (January 7) with members from the local hotels association, rickshaw union, and civic transport services.
Describing elections as a “festival of democracy,” the commissioner urged representatives from various associations to support this democratic exercise by incentivizing voters on polling day in Maharashtra’s Vasai-Virar region.
In response, the local hotels association announced a 15% discount on hotel bills for those who participate in voting, according to a civic release.

The city’s autorickshaw association declared a 50% discount on transportation fares for voters on polling day.
The municipal transport department also revealed special fare concessions for bus services for voters, as per the announcement.
Additionally, representatives of the local hairdressing salon association stated they would offer exclusive discounts on services to voters on polling day, it added.
