Discussing India’s long-term telecom strategy, Scindia affirmed the country’s commitment to its 6G journey, highlighting the strong global collaboration fostered through the Bharat 6G Alliance. “6G, we’re on track. The Bharat 6G Alliance has partnered with nearly 10 networks globally, spanning from the US to Korea and Europe, extending to Africa,” he stated.
The minister noted that India’s goal extends beyond early technology adoption; it aspires to play a vital role in shaping global standards. Scindia explained that the government aims for Indian stakeholders to account for 10% of global 6G patents once standards are established by international organizations like the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and 3GPP. “Our objective is to contribute 10% of patents to 6G when the regulations are set by ITU and 3GPP,” he emphasized.

Scindia further mentioned that the Bharat 6G Alliance is actively engaging across seven verticals with different technology streams, with progress assessed at the ministerial level every quarter. He explained that this structured methodology is meant to ensure India stays ahead as global discussions on 6G standards accelerate.
Contrasting this with previous technology cycles, Scindia noted that India’s approach to 6G signifies a notable shift in ambition. “We lagged behind the world on 4G, moved alongside the world on 5G, and we will lead the world on 6G,” he asserted, highlighting the government’s confidence in the country’s research, innovation, and manufacturing landscape.
