EC to assign approximately 3,000 central officials as micro observers for electoral roll updates in West Bengal.
The Election Commission is set to assign central government officers as micro observers for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal, as confirmed by officials on Friday.

A compilation of officers in Group B or higher is currently being organized for this initiative, they noted.

“These micro observers will digitally verify enumeration forms uploaded by the BLOs, scrutinize the documents submitted by voters, and monitor hearing sessions to pinpoint any discrepancies,” stated an official from the CEO’s office.
Additionally, the micro observers will support both electoral roll observers and special electoral roll observers, he mentioned.

District magistrates will ensure logistical support and security for the micro observers, who will receive appropriate compensation for their services until February 16, he further added.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manoj Kumar Agarwal indicated that the micro observers are expected to arrive in the state shortly.
