The explosion that rattled Palm Springs on Saturday impacted the American Reproductive Centers along North Indian Canyon Drive.

The building is the Coachella Valley’s first and only full-service fertility center and in vitro fertilization lab, according to its website.

The clinic opened in 2006 and provides a wide variety of fertility options, including IVF, male and female fertility evaluation, intrauterine insemination, egg donation, genetic testing, egg freezing, LGBTQ family building, surrogacy resources and more.

Were any eggs, embryos, or staff hurt in explosion?

The clinic released a statement on Facebook Saturday afternoon following the explosion that impacted the facility.

Dr. Maher Abdallah said a vehicle exploded in the parking lot near the building at 1199 N. Indian Canyon Drive in Palm Springs.

No members of the ARC team were harmed, and the lab, including all eggs, embryos, and reproductive materials, was fully secure and undamaged. Abdallah wrote that staff conducted a safety inspection and confirmed that the blast did not impact operations and sensitive medical areas.

At least one fatality is suspected after the explosion. One local resident on the scene described a grisly scene of possible body and car parts strewn across both Indian Canyon and Palm Canyon drives.

“We are heartbroken to learn that this event claimed a life and caused injuries, and our deepest condolences go out to the individuals and families affected,” Abdallah said in a statement.

“Our mission has always been to help build families, and in times like these, we are reminded of just how fragile and precious life is,” he continued. “In the face of this tragedy, we remain committed to creating hope — because we believe that healing begins with community, compassion, and care.”

Abdallah said the clinic will be “fully operational” on Monday morning, and staff members will be available to answer any concerns patients may have. He also thanked first responders for their efforts.

“This moment has shaken us — but it has not stopped us,” he said. “We will continue to serve with strength, love, and the hope that brings new life into the world.”
