Neeraj Chopra Praises Ashish Yadav for Winning Silver at the World U20 Athletics Championships

Neeraj Chopra, a two-time Olympic medallist, has extended his congratulations to fellow Indian javelin thrower Ashish Yadav for securing the silver medal at the World U20 Athletics Championships, highlighting the significance of this achievement for him as a fellow javelin competitor.

In a message on X, Chopra lauded the young athlete’s performance at this prestigious junior global event.

Chopra expressed, “Always a great feeling to see Indian athletes competing and winning at the International level, this one is little more special for me as a javelin thrower. Super proud of you Ashish on your Silver at the U-20 Worlds, this is just the start!”

Ashish delivered an impressive throw of 74.09 metres in the third round to secure the second position. Heymans from South Africa clinched the gold medal with a throw of 80.50 metres, and James from Dominica took bronze with 73.89 metres.

Additionally, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated Ashish, noting that his throw of 74.09m exemplifies his talent, dedication, and hard work.

India’s T. Dharanidharan finished in sixth place with a best throw of 72.35 metres.

The medal occurs in a championship where Neeraj Chopra previously secured the U20 javelin gold in 2016 with a record-breaking throw of 86.48 metres.
