NTPC Green Energy obtained 200 MW/800 MWh of BESS capacity at a determined tariff of ₹4.35 lakh per MW per month under the tender.
The tender aimed to set up a total of 500 MW/2,000 MWh of standalone BESS capacity in West Bengal via a Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process. The e-reverse auction concluded on August 7, 2026. NTPC Green Energy Ltd is a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd.

First Quarter Results
NTPC Green Energy Ltd reported a 38.3% year-on-year increase in net profit for the June quarter, driven by robust revenue growth. The company’s revenue from operations surged 62.7% year-on-year to ₹1,106.9 crore during the quarter, compared to ₹680.2 crore a year ago.
Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortisation (EBITDA) rose by 63.8% to ₹988.7 crore, while the EBITDA margin remained relatively stable at 89.3%, compared to 88.7% in the same quarter last year.
Additionally, the board authorized the formation of a wholly owned subsidiary or special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the development of renewable energy projects.

The company indicated that the SPV will enable future stake dilution for captive or group captive structuring targeted at commercial and industrial sector customers, subject to necessary approvals.
The board also provided in-principle approval to invest up to ₹28.78 lakh in AP NGEL Harit Amrit Ltd, a 50:50 joint venture between NTPC Green Energy and the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd.
The investment will elevate NTPC Green Energy’s stake in the joint venture to 51%, transforming AP NGEL Harit Amrit into a subsidiary of the company, pending applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
Shares of NTPC Green Energy Ltd closed at ₹91.50, an increase of ₹0.19, or 0.21%, on the BSE.
