Ask Maps now accessible in Hindi
Google has begun rolling out Hindi language capabilities for Ask Maps in India. The company stated that users can now pose questions and receive answers in Hindi, simplifying the process of searching for locations, planning routes, and exploring local suggestions.
Personalized suggestions with Personal Intelligence
Google is also enhancing Personal Intelligence within Ask Maps, allowing users to link the feature with Gmail. When activated, Ask Maps can leverage information such as upcoming flight or hotel bookings to deliver more relevant suggestions without users needing to specify their ongoing plans.
For instance, travelers can inquire about attractions near their hotel prior to a scheduled flight, with Ask Maps providing recommendations for nearby points of interest and advising on departure times for the airport.
Resume previous conversations
Users who have enabled their history settings will have the ability to continue earlier conversations with Ask Maps. This feature allows Maps to retain previous travel itineraries and suggestions, streamlining the planning process without requiring users to start anew.
Google mentioned that linking Ask Maps to Gmail is optional and set to off by default. Users can decide whether or not to enable this feature.
Real-time data and live public transport updates
Google has indicated that Ask Maps will persist in delivering real-time information, such as traffic conditions, weather updates, and the busyness of shops or restaurants prior to user visits.
The company is also rolling out live public transport updates through a new transit widget. Users can view real-time schedules, delays, route information, and connections for buses, metros, and trains. For example, a user searching for services at ISBT Kashmere Gate will be able to see live departure times across various transport modes, with waiting times automatically refreshed in case of delays.
