US has deported more than 4,800 Indians since 2025, according to MEA.
Since 2025, the US has deported a total of 4,840 Indian nationals, with 1,273 deported between January and July of this year, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported on Friday.

“The number of Indians deported from the US to India in 2026, as of now, stands at 1,273. In 2025, the total was 3,567,” said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

His comments were made during a regular media briefing in response to an inquiry. Jaiswal mentioned that India is collaborating with various governments concerning deportation matters.

“Whenever such cases are brought to our attention, we undertake thorough checks to verify the nationality of the individual being considered for deportation,” he stated.

“Only after we are completely assured of the person’s Indian nationality do we proceed to facilitate their return to India,” he added.

The Trump administration has intensified efforts against illegal immigrants in the US as part of a significant enforcement initiative.
