The initiative, categorized as a product recall under Chinese laws, impacts 15,266 bZ7 EVs with malfunctioning smart Bluetooth module software, which may lead to unexpected gear shifts while driving, interrupting power delivery.
Additionally, it includes 24,286 vehicles with defects in the thermal management controller software that could, in extreme situations, impair defrosting and defogging capabilities, thereby affecting driver visibility, the regulator stated in a release.
In another update, Toyota Motor revealed on Thursday that its global production and sales for the first half of the year have declined for the first time in two years, attributed to diminished demand in China and a model changeover for its popular RAV4 sport utility vehicle.
Toyota’s global vehicle sales experienced a 2.9% year-on-year decrease during the January-June period, totaling just over 5 million vehicles, with a significant 17.1% decline in China overshadowing stronger demand in North America and Japan.
Global vehicle production also dropped 1.2% compared to the previous year, coming in at under 4.9 million units in the first half of the year.
In June alone, Toyota recorded a slight 0.1% year-on-year rise in global vehicle sales, reaching 868,454 units, while global production increased by 2.9% to 879,321 vehicles.Also Read: Toyota’s crown prince prepares to step into the spotlight
