Dr. Karyna Shuliak, who recently practiced dentistry in Brooklyn, New York, was reportedly Epstein’s girlfriend and the last person he contacted before taking his own life in a New York jail in August 2019. According to The NY Times, she was in a relationship with Epstein for nearly eight years.
Just before his death, Epstein revised his will to allocate a significant portion of his wealth to Shuliak. He also bequeathed her a 33-carat diamond ring, which he reportedly stated was given “in contemplation of marriage.”
Upon his passing, Epstein’s estate was valued at around $600 million. However, after compensating victims through settlement payments and covering various legal costs, the estate is now projected to be worth between $120 million and $200 million. Reports indicate that Shuliak might receive up to $100 million.
Shuliak emigrated from Belarus to New York in 2010 on a student visa with aspirations of becoming a dentist. Epstein assisted her in gaining admission to Columbia University’s dental school. He allegedly financed her education, living expenses, and other costs. Additionally, he facilitated her obtaining a US green card through a marriage arrangement, leading to her US citizenship in 2018.
Epstein was said to have covered Shuliak’s dental school tuition and arranged for her mother to visit from Belarus while she was at Columbia University. Reports mention that Shuliak expressed her gratitude to Epstein in a 2012 message, acknowledging his support for her education, housing, and family, and referred to him as “the purest man out of all men.”
Shuliak has never identified herself as one of Epstein’s victims, and US authorities have not implicated her in his sex trafficking activities, according to The NY Times.
Epstein took his own life on August 10, 2019, at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan while awaiting trial for federal sex trafficking charges. His death was officially classified as a suicide.
