During the Q1FY27 earnings conference call, Bijli remarked, “Beyond films, we are committed to establishing PVR INOX as India’s foremost out-of-home entertainment venue.” He noted that recent live screenings of the IPL and FIFA World Cup have garnered significant audience engagement.
Bijli expressed the company’s vision to utilize its cinema network for a wider range of leisure activities beyond just film releases.
“The vision [is] to leverage our screens, locations, and audience trust to be present during more leisure moments, not solely when a major film launches,” he stated. Addressing an analyst’s inquiry about the financial feasibility of FIFA World Cup screenings, Bijli clarified that the initiative was “not merely a marketing gimmick.” He shared that 64,000 attendees viewed the FIFA World Cup final in PVR INOX cinemas, even though the match began after midnight, adding, “It contributed positively to our bottom line.”
Bijli confirmed that movies will continue to be the company’s primary focus as it diversifies into other entertainment formats.
“We envision PVR INOX’s circuit to encompass more than just movies; while films will always be our cornerstone, we aim to be a venue for all kinds of out-of-home activities,” he explained.
He further noted, “We have now set the stage for sporting events, musical shows, and stand-up comedy performances, which is quite thrilling.”
Reaffirming that films will be at the heart of the business, Bijli stated, “There is a deliberate effort to keep movies as our cornerstone, while also pivoting slightly toward more sustainable out-of-home entertainment options.”
