Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, garners nearly $1 million for his leather jacket at Sotheby’s Auction.
Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang is seldom spotted without his iconic black leather jacket, a look he has preserved for almost twenty years. Whether at product launches, corporate gatherings, or significant tech events, Huang’s Tom Ford leather jackets have become a defining element of his public persona.

One of these renowned jackets recently went up for auction at Sotheby’s, drawing keen interest from collectors. Following 65 bids, Huang’s personally signed and pre-owned Tom Ford leather jacket sold for an impressive $960,000 on Friday.

This amount was 16 times greater than Sotheby’s initial pre-auction estimate of $40,000 to $60,000.
The jacket has been photomatched by PSA to Jensen Huang, co-founder and CEO of Nvidia Corp., from the Hon Hai Tech Day event in Taipei, Taiwan, on October 18, 2023. The signature has been authenticated by James Spence Authentication.

“The response to this sale exceeded even our highest expectations,” stated Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s head of modern collectibles.

At least 45 collectors placed bids on the Tom Ford jacket, with Brahm Wachter referring to it as “an object so closely tied to one of the defining figures of the AI era.”

“This auction item is a philanthropic initiative organized by Long Journey Ventures to support the Edge Institute, a non-profit that brings together individuals pushing the boundaries of tech, science, culture, and society in pop-up villages (Edge Cities) to collaborate and experiment for a brighter future. Proceeds will fund fellowships, grants, and residencies for the next generation of innovators as they pursue their passions and projects, helping them discover their higher purpose,” added Sotheby’s.

Other CEOs have taken note of Huang’s distinctive style as well. In 2024, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg famously engaged in a pro sports-style ‘jersey swap’ with Huang. Later that year, on stage at a computer graphics conference, Huang gifted Zuckerberg one of his jackets that he had worn that day.

“This is worth more because it’s used,” Zuckerberg remarked.
