With Fontang’s support, Auger-Aliassime secured nine ATP singles titles and reached a career-best ranking of world number four. This separation concludes a ten-year partnership that started when Fontang began coaching Auger-Aliassime at just 16 years old.
“After nearly ten years of working together, it has recently been decided that Wimbledon would be my last tournament with Frederic by my side as my coach,” Auger-Aliassime mentioned in an Instagram post on Friday.
“Since I was 16, he has played a crucial role in my development and has helped me experience extraordinary moments in this sport. He has stood by me during the most challenging times of my career.
“During those tough moments, I always found the calm, composure, and wisdom in him that I required to navigate those challenges. Reflecting on it now, I can confidently say that beyond being a phenomenal coach, he has been a sincere mentor throughout my transition into adulthood.”
