Pakistan appoints Babar as Test captain, replacing Masood before West Indies and England series.
Pakistan has relieved Shan Masood of his duties as Test captain and reinstated Babar Azam ahead of their forthcoming Test series against West Indies and England, as announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday.

Masood, who took over from Babar in November 2023, steps down following a challenging tenure.

The left-handed batsman led Pakistan in 16 matches, securing just 4 victories. His leadership faced growing criticism after Pakistan suffered a 2-0 whitewash against Bangladesh in May.
Pakistan is set to compete in a two-match Test series against the West Indies from July 25 to August 6, followed by a three-match series in England from August 19 to September 13.
