Sam Curran Seeks Chance to Step in for Ben Stokes in England's Test Team
Sam Curran has shown his readiness to step into the role left by Ben Stokes as England looks for a seam-bowling all-rounder following the Test captain’s retirement.

When asked if he would relish the opportunity, Curran remarked to BBC Sport, “Yeah, definitely.”

“However, it’s one of those situations where I aim to put forth my best performance, and whenever the decision is made on who will take Stokesy’s place—playing for England is incredible, and I’m a competitive person.
“When I have a ball or bat in hand, I simply strive to do my best, so we’ll see how it unfolds.”

At 28 years old, he hasn’t participated in Test cricket since England’s home series against India in August 2021 and has mainly played in white-ball formats since then.

Currently, Curran is part of England’s squad for the ongoing five-match T20I series against India and has also been selected for the three-match ODI series later this month.

England faces India in the second T20I at Old Trafford on Saturday.
