US-Iran War Live Updates: The conflict in West Asia has now reached its fifth month. The US and Iran have opted to continue indirect discussions after the funeral services of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, maintaining diplomatic efforts to reinforce the fragile ceasefire.

Qatar’s foreign ministry reported that mediators from Qatar and Pakistan wrapped up separate meetings with US and Iranian negotiators in Doha, with “positive progress” noted on issues pertaining to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The two parties have agreed to schedule the next round of discussions “at the earliest possible time” following the funeral ceremonies.

The most recent talks address technical issues, including the execution of the ceasefire framework and maritime security, while significant differences persist regarding sanctions relief, Iran’s nuclear program, and long-term regional security arrangements, as per Reuters.

In the meantime, US President Donald Trump remarked that the reduction in geopolitical tensions is leading to lower energy expenses.

“America has never been stronger than it is now, and Gas Prices will soon return to the Record Low Prices Americans enjoyed at the pump prior to our very successful ‘excursion’ in Iran,” he stated on Truth Social.

Trump also mentioned that oil prices are “plummeting FAST” and announced reduced fuel prices at select stations in Philadelphia in anticipation of America’s 250th Independence Day celebrations.
