IndiGo Introduces 'Lite' Fare for Passengers Traveling with Only Cabin Baggage: What You Need to Know
IndiGo has launched a new economy fare option named ‘IndiGo Lite’ for travelers who are bringing only cabin baggage. The airline stated that this option aims to provide customers with greater flexibility and control, allowing them to pay solely for the services they require.

The Lite fare will be available for bookings on IndiGo’s official website, mobile app, and contact center starting July 1, with travel commencing on July 15. It will apply to both domestic and international non-stop routes for one-way, round-trip, and multi-city journeys, catering to adult and child passengers alike.

The Lite fare features a reduced base fare, an automatically assigned seat, and a cabin baggage allowance of up to 7 kg. Passengers can enhance their travel experience by opting for add-on services such as check-in baggage, preferred seating, meals, and priority services like Fast Forward.
These additional services can be acquired via IndiGo’s website or at the airport up to one hour before departure. Travelers using the Lite fare will still earn and redeem IndiGo BluChip loyalty points.

The launch of IndiGo Lite broadens the airline’s 6E Ways to Fly options, which include Saver, Flexi Plus, IndiGo UpFront, IndiGoStretch, and Stretch+, offering travelers a variety of choices based on their preferences and budget. Customers can select the fare that best meets their needs and book the Lite fare through IndiGo’s website, app, or contact center.

Aloke Singh, Chief Strategy Officer of IndiGo, mentioned that this new fare is aimed at those who like to travel light and prefer paying only for necessary services. In his remarks about the launch, Singh noted that IndiGo is continually striving to adapt its product offerings to the evolving needs of a diverse range of travelers. “IndiGo Lite is yet another step towards developing a robust, purpose-driven product portfolio,” he added.
