“We are looking into a possible theft of equipment from a team vehicle that arrived in Kansas City with items missing this evening,” police stated. “The investigation is ongoing. Two individuals of interest have been apprehended for further inquiry.”
The incident took place while the equipment was being transported from England’s pre-tournament training camp in Florida to Swope Soccer Village, where it was expected to be set up before the squad’s arrival on Saturday.
Reports from British media indicate that several pieces, including footballs and boots, were stolen after the vehicle carrying the equipment was broken into.
This theft occurs just days before England kicks off their World Cup campaign against Croatia in Dallas on Wednesday, raising concerns about potential disruptions to the team’s preparations.
