Kumar highlighted that the airport’s impressive growth in passenger numbers, amenities, financial results, and infrastructure development mirrors the economic advancement of Jharkhand.
“In FY 2023-24, the airport recorded a profit of ₹49.21 crore, which rose to ₹64.60 crore in FY 2024-25, culminating in ₹87.56 crore for the financial year 2025-26. This progress reflects ongoing enhancements in operational efficiency and revenue generation capabilities,” he noted.

Regarding passenger numbers, Kumar pointed out that the airport catered to about 27 lakh passengers in 2025-26, a notable increase from 6.5 lakh during 2014-15. “This expansion signifies the vibrant economic activities, trade, tourism, and enhanced air connectivity in Jharkhand,” he added.
Several key development projects have been successfully completed at the airport in recent years, including the construction of a new air traffic control (ATC) tower, installation of DVOR and ILS systems, apron expansion, addition of passenger boarding bridges, security area expansion, and modernization of passenger amenities.
“These initiatives have significantly bolstered the airport’s capacity, safety, and operational efficacy,” the director remarked. Kumar also announced that the airport will host ‘Yatri Suvidha Divas’ on June 15.
A series of events will be organized to enhance passenger comfort, raise public awareness, foster social responsibility, promote environmental conservation, and celebrate local culture, he mentioned.

As part of environmental efforts, a tree planting and sapling distribution drive will be held.
“To highlight Jharkhand’s rich cultural heritage, folk dances, local artistry, and handicraft exhibitions will take place. Additionally, painting and quiz competitions will be arranged for children, alongside blood donation camps, free health check-up camps for passengers and stakeholders, and complimentary eye check-up camps for taxi and auto drivers,” Kumar concluded.
